Registered sex offender dad gets custody of two girls, then arrested for child endangerment (Seabrook, Texas)

I've been posting these cases for years now, and still, this one made my jaw drop open.

Who the hell awarded a father who was a REGISTERED SEX OFFENDER custody of two little girls? Especially one with a long (unspecified) rap sheet?

Are we surprised that said girls were found surrounded by filth and animal waste and hadn't been fed in days? And I'm sure that's just the tip of the iceberg for what these girls have endured.

What freaking judicial genius gave JOE BOB KNOW custody? Let's see names!

Still think poor daddies are discriminated against, hmm?

SEABROOK, Texas—Two little girls found living in a filthy home full of animal waste had not been fed for days, according to Seabrook police.

Their father, 58-year-old Joe Bob Knox, is charged with endangering a child.

Police said the 2 and 4-year-old girls were surrounded by animal feces and urine, and had not eaten for at least two days.

His attorney said he'd recently lost his job and was doing the best he could under the circumstances.

Knox’s bail was set at $15,000. Knox has a long rap sheet dating back to the 70s and he is a registered sex offender.

His attorney said he was awarded custody of the children when he and their mother split up.
