Dad charged with 1st-degree murder in death of 19-month-old son (Waterloo, Iowa)

Waterloo, Ia. — Prosecutors have charged a Waterloo man with child endangerment resulting in death and child endangerment-multiple acts in connection with his son’s death.

Daniel Reddout had earlier been charged with first-degree murder in the death of his 18-month-old son, Kaleb.

Police were called to a Cedar Falls apartment on a report of a child not breathing on April 4. The boy was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy showed he died of asphyxiation.

Reddout’s attorney has filed a written plea of not guilty and waived speedy trial rights. Reddout’s trial is set for Aug. 2.
