"Stay-at-home" dad charged in near fatal beating of 7-month-old daughter (Charlotte, North Carolina)
As usual, we see the mom is the one being blamed for "allowing" the father to beat the baby--the same man who beat her. The same man she was afraid to leave. But let's look at this woman's real options, shall we? Nowadays, it's almost IMPOSSSIBLE to get rid of a "stay-at-home" dad like DARRIUS BRICE (i.e. another deadbeat abuser who successfully marketed himself as the male equivalent of a stay-at-home mom). Nowadays--thanks to gender neutrality--there is almost no doubt that this type will get custody of the children, and that the mom will be paying him child support to sit on his @$$ and abuse the kids when he gets "frustrated." The mother will put herself in danger during every custody exchange--and with a man who is now enraged that she had the nerve to leave his lazy, violent self. But if you stay, you will be blamed for Daddy's violence too. There's no way to win.
Notice that when stay-at-home mothers are abusive, working fathers are NEVER blamed for the mother's actions. Only the mothers are. As a society, we expect higher standards of accountability from mothers--whether they are in the workforce or not. But then we deny them the tools to maintain that accountability--like allowing mothers the authority to determine who will care for their children and when.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A 7-month-old baby nearly beaten to death Friday will remain hospitalized for months and could have permanent brain damage, family members said Sunday.
Destiny Brice was taken to the hospital Friday.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police charged the baby's mother, Talisa Ramseur, and father, Darrius Brice, with child abuse. Talisa's family said she never harmed her baby and she shouldn't face a child abuse charge.
Talisa's aunt, Sue Ramseur, visited Destiny at the hospital Saturday.
"She had tubes and stuff all over her. She had a screw in her head, down through her skull in her brains," Ramseur said.
Ramseur said doctors told her permanent brain damage is a possibility.
"They told me she'd be in there for months, a lot of months," she said.
Cousin Priscilla Bowie said Talisa Ramseur is a student at CPCC and works at the Kidz Are Fun Child Development Center on Freedom Drive.
"She was a good mother. She was trying to do stuff that was going to make their life good and easy," Bowie said.
Family members said Ramseur's boyfriend was abusive and she was afraid to leave.
"He babysitted. He kept the house. She worked, and she went to school for that baby," Sue Ramseur said.
The family said they are speaking out because they want police to drop the abuse charge. Darrius Brice is charged with child abuse and also charged with assaulting Talisa Ramseur.
Brice and Talisa Ramseur remain in jail on a secured bond.
