Dad arrested on child endangerment charges, 5-year-old son in critical condition (Union City, California)
Dad PRASHANT MALIK has been arrested. No mention of where Mom was while Daddy was randomly heaving metal objects through the air. Just who was he arguing with? The child?
INVISIBLE MOTHER ALERT.

UNION CITY -- A 5-year-old boy is in critical condition with life-threatening head injuries at an East Bay hospital and his 38-year-old father has been arrested in connection with the incident, police said.
About 7:30 p.m. Monday, the Alameda County Fire Department responded to a medical call involving the injured child at a home on the 32000 block of Monterey Drive, police Lt. Ben Horner said.
Authorities found the Union City boy unresponsive and suffering from a major head injury, and he was taken to an East Bay hospital for treatment, police said.
Police were called to the scene, where the child's father, Prashant Malik, told officers he had thrown a metal object during an argument and unintentionally hit the boy in the head, Horner said.
Authorities ordered Malik to undergo a mental evaluation, and on Wednesday officers arrested him on suspicion of felony child endangerment, police said.
Police investigators plan to present case evidence to the District Attorney's Office in the next few days, Horner said.
Malik is in custody at Santa Rita Jail.
Anyone with information about the incident may call Detective Roberta Paul at 510-471-1365 or the anonymous tip line at 510-675-5207.
