Dad arrested for assaulting 6-year-old son (Mille Lacs, Minnesota)

Dad is identified as TIMOTHY ROBERT BENEDICT.

A 6-year-old child was hospitalized with a severe head laceration after his father allegedly assaulted him Wednesday, Dec. 7.

According to the criminal complaint, Timothy Robert Benedict, 32, of Foreston, was arguing with the child’s mother when he picked up the boy and threw him into a dresser in their daughter’s room.

Neighbors heard screaming and went to find out where it was coming from. A neighbor boy could hear the screams coming from inside the Benedict’s apartment and he forced his way in. Then the neighbors reported the incident.

The boy needed several stitches as a result of the injury.

Benedict has been charged with malicious punishment of a child, child endangerment, third degree assault and domestic assault. He faces more than 15 years in jail and up to $31,000 in fines.
