Dad charged with injuring 4-month-old son, son's mom in "domestic dispute" (Tulsa, Oklahoma)

I hate it when lazy reporters call an assault a "domestic dispute." It's just a way of trivializing violence when it's aimed at women and children.

The dad is identified as EUGENE WAYNE MCWHIRT.

Tulsa father accused of injuring infant son, assaulting child's mother

A Tulsa father is charged on accusations that he injured his infant son and assaulted the child’s mother during a domestic dispute last July.

Eugene Wayne McWhirt, 26, was charged on a single count of child abuse by injury and two counts of domestic assault and battery Thursday, according to Tulsa County District Court filings.

McWhirt is accused of “using unreasonable force upon a 4-month-old baby” causing a scalp contusion, court documents state.

Prosecutors also claim he attacked two other people, including the child’s mother during an altercation that occurred July 27, 2013.

The documents state McWhirt punched and shoved the woman before assaulting another man who attempted to intervene.

McWhirt was arrested by Tulsa police, and is held in jail in lieu of $90,000 bond, jail records show.
