MANILA, Philippines - A 45-year-old man facing 10 counts of rape charges for allegedly molesting his own daughter was apprehended in La Union after 10 years of hiding.
Rogelio Casanova-Mangaoang of Aringay town is accused of abusing his then 16-year-old daughter in 2001 in Barangay Sta. Rita.
Senior Inspector Luis Liban, chief of the Aringay police station, said that Mangaoang was reported to have been hiding in a neighboring village.
Liban said that police pursued leads from some informants that the suspect was living by another name in the mountainous area of the town.
The court issued the arrest warrant in 2004 against Mangaoang after his wife, then an overseas worker in Singapore, filed the charges.
The suspect was scheduled to appear before the court for a hearing today.
