Dad kills 6-year-old daughter in murder-suicide (Reno, Nevada)
I suspect the unemployed father had marital problems...Often these crimes are precipitated by Mom ending the relationship with a deadbeat abuser/control freak, so Dad murders the kids to get revenge and punish her.
Dad is identified as ADAM ALEXANDER SCOTT.

The deaths of two people in Reno’s Caughlin Ranch were a murder-suicide involving a father and his 6-year-old daughter, police said Wednesday.
Reno police identified the father as Adam Alexander Scott, 46. The girl was not identified by name. They died Monday.
Scott was found with a gunshot wound to the head in the garage of a home in the 4900 block of Mountainshyre Road, police said. A suicide note was found in the southwest Reno residence.
Paramedics found the girl submerged in a bathtub, police said.
“While the cause of death for the father was apparent, the cause of death for the girl is still pending and will require toxicology and laboratory testing,” police said in a statement.
Police suspect Scott called emergency dispatch about his daughter’s apparent drowning before killing himself. Scott’s wife and son were at work and school at the time, an unidentified man made the call and no one else was found in the home, Reno police Sgt. Alan Salter said.
The contents of the suicide note were not disclosed.
“Content of the note was descriptive enough to come to a finding of murder-suicide,” Salter said.
Why Scott allegedly killed his daughter remains a mystery, and police are looking into his background to answer that question, Salter said.
REMSA and the Reno fire and police departments were called to the home at 2:35 p.m. Monday on a report of a drowning.
REMSA personnel arrived first and called out through an open front door, police said. When they received no answer, they entered.
They immediately began lifesaving efforts on the girl. Meanwhile, Reno firefighters continued a search for others who might have needed medical assistance, police said. That’s when they found Scott.
Scott was unemployed, Salter said. Scott’s past employment was not immediately known.
The father and daughter are survived by Scott’s wife, the girl’s mother, and a second child, a brother, police said.
Toxicology and lab testing on the girl is expected to take a couple of months.
