PHOENIX -- Authorities say a Phoenix man is suspected of beating his baby daughter after smoking synthetic marijuana and hallucinating that he was in hell.
Bond was set at $45,000 Tuesday for 29-year-old Jesse Martell Miller after his initial appearance in Maricopa County Superior Court.
Phoenix police say Miller was arrested Monday on suspicion of child abuse.
Authorities say Miller's 18-month-old daughter remains in critical but stable condition in the pediatric intensive care unit of a Phoenix-area hospital.
Police say Miller told officers that he was smoking ``spice'' in the bathroom and began to hallucinate that his soul had left his body and he was in hell. When Miller stopped hallucinating, he says heard his baby screaming and saw she was bleeding from the mouth and realized he must have hit her.
