A Louisville father was arrested on a child-abuse charge in an incident that police said started when a puppy peed on the floor.
Stanley R. Taylor, 31, of the 2600 block of Alford Avenue, was arrested Tuesday for first-degree child abuse, a Louisville Metro Police report said.
Taylor became angry when the family puppy urinated on the floor and “bopped” his 8- and 10-year-old children on the head, a Jefferson County arrest warrant said.
Taylor’s 10-year-old son was taking the dog outside when Taylor kicked him, making the boy fall with the dog, the warrant said.
Taylor is also accused of pinching the boy’s nose and covering his mouth so he couldn’t breathe. He allegedly punched the boy in the head and threw him into his bedroom, saying he would not be going to school, the warrant said.
Taylor changed his mind, though, and when the boy arrived at school he had a large knot on his head, the warrant said. School personnel became alarmed when the boy walked into a wall and told them he wasn’t feeling well because of the assaults, the warrant said.
The school, which was not named in the warrant, called police and Child Protective Services.
Taylor was arrested Tuesday at about 10:15 a.m. at the intersection of North 25th and Columbia streets.
