Dad sentenced to 13 years in prison for raping 8-year-old daughter (South Africa)
It does not appear that the mother and father lived together (i.e no mother in the home). The mother apparently dropped off the child to visit with her father.

A 39 year old man was sentenced to 13 years imprisonment for raping his child. He was sentenced on Friday, 5 October by the Camperdown Regional Court after the Judge heard how he raped his eight year old daughter. During February 2011 a woman left her eight year old child with her father at Mpumalanga Township. When she came back, she noticed that there was something wrong with her child. The victim was questioned and she reported that she was raped by her father. A case of rape was opened at Mpumalanga police station and Pinetown Family Violence, Children and Sexual Offences Unit was tasked to investigate the case. A child was taken to the doctor who confirmed that she was raped. Through investigation, the accused was arrested and charged with rape.
The KZN Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni commended the hard working members for their excellent investigation that led to the conviction and sentence of the accused.‘This conviction will send a strong message to those criminals who targeted and raped vulnerable women who cannot defend themselves, she said. ‘This little girl was supposed to be protected by her father against any form of abuse but instead he raped her.
