Dad pleads guilty to murdering wife, two daughters (Newmarket, Ontario, Canada)

Dad BAO (KENNY) MAC has pleaded guilty to 2nd-degree murder in the shooting deaths of his wife, 4-year-old daughter, and 22-year-old stepdaughter. Note that this father was the very embodiment of coercive control--he didn't want his wife to move back to China. And he didn't want his adult stepdaughter to date (which really has creeper vibes all over it). You think that maybe, just maybe, Mom wanted to get away because he was abusive control freak?

Too bad nobody locked up this guy when he was threatening to kill these people, rather than afterwards. But that's Canada for ya.

Crown, Defence Seek 22-Year Sentence For Man Who Murdered Wife & Two Daughters

A sentencing hearing began Tuesday in Newmarket for a man who pleaded guilty to murdering his wife and two daughters.

Bao (Kenny) Mac, 49, pleaded guilty to three counts of second-degree murder in November. Both the Crown and defence are asking for, at the least, a 22-year sentence before Mac is eligible for parole. Victim impact statements and the sentence are expected to be heard in court later this week.

Mac shot his wife, Zu Ling He, and his four-year-old daughter Lisa Mac in the head on Oct. 14, 2007 following an argument at their home on Barnsley Ct., near Warden and Ellesmere. When his 22-year-old step-daughter, Qian Jenny Zhao, arrived home, he shot her as well.

He was apparently upset about his wife’s desire to return to China with their young daughter. He was also reportedly upset his step-daughter was dating and was apparently very possessive of her. He'd threatened to kill his wife and children in the days leading up to the murders.

He drove the bodies to the 7th Concession and 16th Sideroad in King Township where he set the vehicle on fire. He planned to kill himself, but instead ran to a nearby home for help, pleading with the residents to call 911, after severely burning himself.

"Bao Mac brutally and ruthlessly murdered the three people who should have been able to trust him most," Crown attorney Michelle Rumble said Tuesday.

"The innocent were slaughtered and the coward spared himself."

The man has so far shown no remorse for the crime and has offered no explanation as to why he murdered his family.

Authorities found blood and marijuana plants in his home. Investigators immediately identified Zu Ling He’s remains but it took over a month to positively identify the remains of her two daughters.
