Dad gets into courthouse with gun; was "upset" about divorce, child support (Fort Lauderdale, Florida)

No doubt dad MARIN STROIA is the kind of poor little dear who will next be nominated for Sainthood in the fathers rights movement. Right, some saint. The kind of "saint" who sits on the floor at the courthouse with a gun to his chin while babbling about his divorce and having to pay child support. I hope to God this volatile freak didn't have child visitation, but I suspect he did, given that this is Florida. Basically any daddy with a pulse gets visitation in Florida--no matter how crazy or violent he is. Daddy's been charged with aggravated assault--mostly because he pulled this stunt in public in front of a judge. I would just about bet that the mother of their child has witnessed Daddy's scary melodramatic crap more than once--only to be ignored by the authorities.

A Florida lawyer friend of mine also can't help but wonder how this "incident" was allowed to take place. Says she: "For years at unknown cost to the county and others in time alone, they have been searching everyone going into Broward County Courthouse. No guns found. But they've got my manicure scissors, butane lighter, letter opener, plastic knife in the deli-packed lunch (guess I should have just got a metal knife at the cafeteria)...."

Man gets into Broward courthouse with gun

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- A man distraught over child support payments snuck into the Broward County courthouse and held a gun to his chin.

A deputy chased Marin Stroia upstairs Friday where he sat on the floor - a single bullet in the gun. Judge Joel Lazarus pleaded with Stroia to put the gun down so they could talk. The 59-year-old surrendered and was charged with aggravated assault.

Lazarus said he was upset about his divorce and needed someone to listen.

Witnesses said earlier they watched Stroia step out of line and try to bypass courthouse metal detectors. He slipped through the exit door as someone was leaving.

Court deputies say they frequently stop people from trying to enter through the exits. They're advocating to have lockable, one-way revolving exit doors installed.
