Father in Crown Court on Stourport baby death charge
2:27pm Thursday 13th January 2011

A FATHER has appeared before a judge at Worcester Crown Court charged with causing the death of his baby son in Stourport.

Jonathan James, 24, is accused of the manslaughter of five-months-old Theo Davies.

The child died after an incident at a house in Old Ford Walk, Walshes estate, on August 24, 2009, when James was training to become a soldier.

Judge Alistair McCreath granted James, now of St Atham, Barry, Vale of Glamorgan, bail and adjourned the case until June 10 when he will enter a plea to the charge.

A six-week trial has been fixed to start on November 7.

Prosecutor Jonas Hankin said he was waiting for a final medical report before the case was ready.

The judge gave the defence until May 27 to prepare James's case statement.
