Monroe man accused of battering woman while their baby watched

A Monroe man was held Wednesday on a $7,000 bond on charges of battery and child endangerment.

Tuesday night, Monroe police contacted the victim who reportedly said her baby’s father, Travillion Bass, 24, of 316 Nevada Drive came to her residence. She reportedly said he was angry because she had gone to a friend’s house. According to Bass’s arrest report, the victim said he grabbed her by the throat and pushed her onto a bed in front of their 9-month-old child.

She reportedly said he also pushed her to the floor and into a door jamb, where she hit her head. Police report observing a large knot on her forehead. The victim reportedly said she was able to hit him at least twice in an attempt to defend herself.

As the investigation continued into early Wednesday morning, police contacted Bass at his home. Bass reportedly said he and the victim were fighting because the baby had been outside without clothes. He reportedly said the argument did become physical, with her hitting him and Bass pushing her back. Bass reportedly said that she ran into the wall, at which point he left and went home.

The victim reportedly had an active restraining order against Bass. The two reportedly lived together for six months with their baby until approximately a month ago.

Bass was booked into the Ouachita Correctional Center and charged with domestic abuse battery with child endangerment and violation of a protective order.
