Father wanted on aggravated murder charge after baby's death ruled homicide

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- An 18-year-old father is accused of aggravated murder in connection with the death of his two-month-old daughter last week, according to court records.

A Cleveland Municipal Court judge Friday signed off on an arrest warrant for Brandon Moss, of Cleveland, after the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's office ruled the baby died of blunt force trauma.

Moss called 9-1-1 Wednesday night and said his daughter, Renee, stopped breathing. The dispatcher walked Moss through CPR as paramedics rushed to the Carson Avenue apartment about 11:40 p.m.

Renee died of blunt force trauma to the body and head with visceral, skeletal and soft tissue injuries, according to the medical examiner's office. Her death was ruled a homicide.

While police routinely conduct initial investigations of most children's deaths, paramedics called police to the apartment because the child had a bruise on her back, police said.

Police did not immediately respond to a Monday morning request asking if Moss had been arrested. Court records indicate he has not.
