MORGAN CITY — St. Mary Parish authorities say an 18-year-old man has been arrested on a charge of second-degree cruelty to juveniles after his infant son was found to have suffered brain damage.
The St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office said Gregory Parker of Morgan City was arrested Monday.
Deputies reported receiving a report from a doctor at Children's Hospital of New Orleans about a 3-month-old with injuries consistent with shaken baby syndrome.
Detectives said they interviewed family members and determined the baby was in his father's care when he suffered the injuries. Parker was booked into the parish jail. No bond had been listed as of this morning.
