Dad indicted on child porn charges (Sacramento, California)

ELK GROVE FATHER INDICTED ON CHILD PORN CHARGES

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A federal grand jury returned an indictment today charging 40-year-old Elk Grove resident Michael Gibson with two counts of production and attempted production of child pornography. Gibson was arrested on Saturday at his home in Elk Grove.
United States Attorney Benjamin B. Wagner announced the indictment Thursday afternoon. According to the indictment, Gibson was using minors to engage in sexually explicit conduct for the purpose of producing visual depictions of such conduct.
There are at least three known victims and according to the indictment Gibson, “attempted to employ, persuade, entice, induce and use,” the minors to engage in sexually explicit conduct.
Officials executed a search warrant on May 1 at Gibson’s Elk Grove home after a computer located at the residence was used to offer child pornography through an online file-sharing site.
During the search of Gibson’s home, a hard drive containing videos of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct was found. Officials also found videos that were taken with hidden cameras hidden in the bathrooms in the house. Those videos showed minor children using the toilet and shower.
It’s unknown to what extend Gibson engaged his children in these activity’s since no names have been released due to their age.
Gibson is scheduled to be arraigned on May 22, 2013 before U.S. Magistrate Judge Allison Claire. If convicted, he faces a possible sentence of 15 to 30 years in prison, a $250,000 fine, and a lifetime period of supervised release.
The investigation was carried out by the Sacramento Internet Crimes\Against Children Task Force (ICAC) and the Elk Grove Police Department.
The Sacramento ICAC is a federally and state funded task force managed by the Sacramento Sheriff’s Department composed of agents from federal, state, and local agencies. The purpose of the Sacramento ICAC is to investigate online child exploitation crimes, including child pornography, enticement, and sex trafficking.
