Police arrested a Visalia man on suspicion of felony child abuse after they found his infant unresponsive on Wednesday afternoon.
Emergency crews and police were called to a home on East Meadowbrook Drive on reports of an unresponsive infant, said Sgt. Amy Watkins. The child was immediately taken by ambulance to Kaweah Delta Medical Center in Visalia, where doctors diagnosed the child's injuries as the result of being shaken.
The infant's father, Mark Bryan Hvass, was arrested on suspicion of felony child abuse and booked into Tulare County Jail.
The infant is in critical but stable condition at Kaweah Delta, police said.
