It's not often that I feel great amusement in posting here at Dastardly. This is one of those rare times.

Must really suck to me dad GREGORY F. BABCOCK. You're "estranged" from your son's mom--and she has custody. And thank goodness the system worked the way it was supposed to for once. Plus, you were stupid enough to abuse your son in public AND IN FRONT OF THE DISTRICT ATTORNEY.

Mannsville man accused of grabbing son by neck

SANDY CREEK — An occasion for some family pride here Tuesday became tarnished by a domestic fight for anybody to watch, including an Oswego County assistant district attorney, according to state police.

Families had brought their young soccer players to the Little League field to have pictures taken. One of the young athletes, 9, was there with his mother and father, who are estranged, police said.

An argument developed, police said, and the father, Gregory F. Babcock, 28, of 1500 McDonald Hill Road, Mannsville, is alleged to have grabbed his son by the neck — within sight of the prosecutor.

Mr. Babcock was arrested on charges of criminal obstruction of breathing and blood circulation, endangering the welfare of a child and harassment, and was sent to Oswego County jail, Oswego, with bail set at $3,000 in town of Sandy Creek Court.

The child’s mother has legal custody of him, police said.
