Teen father accused of abusing infant son

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A 17-year-old Charlotte father has been accused of abusing his infant child.

According to the police report, Evan Nichols has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault after police say he forcefully shook his infant child Wednesday morning.

The incident happened inside a home on Red Hickory Lane in southwest Charlotte and Nichols was arrested at 2:40 a.m. Thursday.

The victim is at Carolinas Medical Center with serious injuries. CMPD is not releasing the name of the child at this time.
