Police: Dad put 2-year-old son's hand in boiling water (Hayward, California)

Notice that the mom had accused dad DANTE ROBERSON of abusing the 2-year-old boy before, but her concerns were basically ignored. Dad has now been charged torture among other things.

I suspect that this is a custody/visitation situation, but there is no clarification here.

Police say a California father previously investigated for child abuse has been arrested for putting his 2-year-old boy's hand in boiling water.

San Leandro police Sgt. Mike Sobek tells the Oakland Tribune ( http://bit.ly/r2ZUB6) that the toddler's skin was burned off in 150-degree water. The child has undergone two reconstructive plastic surgeries on his hand.

Police arrested 39-year-old Dante Roberson on Friday and he's expected to be arraigned in Hayward on Tuesday. He's facing three felony counts of child abuse, torture and aggravated mayhem.

Doctors told police that the child's injuries are not consistent with Roberson's version of how his son was hurt.

The sergeant says the boy's mother previously accused Roberson of abusing the boy, who then was 9 months old, but there wasn't enough evidence to charge him.
