Woman found dead, child's father is only suspect

CENTRAL POINT, Ore. -- A Central Point woman was found dead Sunday and police have arrested the father of her child.

A 911 call came into police at 7:36 a.m. Sunday about a possible dead body. When crews arrived to the scene, they found Jessica Star Bethany dead.

The 32-year-old's body was found in an apartment in the 700 block of East Pine Street.

Police arrested Jefferey Wayne Wheeler. Police said Wheeler appears to be a transient living between Oregon and California.

Police said Bethany had trauma to her body.

Police did not find any gun shot or stab wounds but final details won't be confirmed until the autopsy results are complete. The investigation is ongoing.

Police will be at the scene for the next few days because of the holiday weekend.

Earlier Sunday, the road was blocked off between the apartment complex and Abby's.
