Single dad arrested for meth possession, violating parole; "a relative" gets custody (Napa, California)

Where to start. Dad KORY BREITEN was on probation when he was arrested for possession/usage of methamphetamine while "caring for his children." CPS has now officially approved that the children be handed over to "a relative." No, not their mother, but "a relative." Is this an indirect way of acknowledging that this is a single, custodial dad? Where is Mom anyway?

INVISIBLE MOTHER ALERT.

ALISHA WYMAN Napa Valley Register Posted: Wednesday, October 6, 2010 7:56 pm

A Napa man was arrested Tuesday after someone called police to report he was using drugs while caring for his children.

Officers responded to the residence on the 400 block of Maple Street at 10:20 p.m.

They spoke with Kory Breiten, 26, who is on probation, police said. Officers searched the residence and found a small amount of methamphetamine, police said.

Breiten was arrested and booked at the county jail on suspicion of drug possession and violation of probation.

Officers turned the children, who were in good health, over to a relative with the approval of Child Protective Services, police said.
