PAWTUCKET, R.I. -- A young father is accused of assaulting his namesake baby daughter while he was home alone with her Thursday morning.

Kyle Boisvert, 22, had called out sick from his job as a garbageman in Exeter and was home watching 2-month-old Kylie while her mother, Rosemarie Yergeau, was out, said Detective Donti Rosciti.

When Yergeau returned to their apartment at 199 Carter Ave. in the early afternoon, she said she noticed the baby's eyes were puffy and bloodshot, and her chest was bruised, according to a police report.

Yergeau brought the baby to East Bay Pediatrics, which sent her to Hasbro Children's Hospital where a doctor examined the baby and told the police that the injuries were caused by trauma or child abuse.

After an investigation by detectives Rosciti and Hans L. Cute, Boisvert was charged with second-degree child abuse. He was arraigned at 6th District Court on Friday morning and released on $10,000 surety bail, and issued a no-contact order.
