Just goes to show that the arbitrary lines distinguishing "boyfriends" and "fathers" can be very blurry indeed.
Still, I have to wonder whatever happened to the mother of Cline's two young daughters. Notice that the reporter makes no effort to interview her here, or even acknowledge her existence. Is she even alive? If she is, I somehow suspect that her accounts are quite different than the "picture perfect" accounts propagated by the father and his loyal buddies. So why the black out?
However, notice that the deceased boy's natural father is interviewed, and that he shared custody.
So how come the mother didn't seem to have access to her two girls?
INVISIBLE MOTHER ALERT.

SHAWNEE — A McLoud man faces a first-degree murder charge in connection with the death of his girlfriend's son.
Jason William Cline, 26, was charged Wednesday in Pottawatomie County District Court. He is accused of killing Cody Paul Chama, 3.
Cline has been in the county jail without bail since his arrest last week.
Julian Ahumada, 29, of Shawnee, went to court Wednesday morning to support his friend.
"It's a total shock to everyone that knows him,” Ahumada said. "No one believes Jason is capable of hurting a child.”
Ahumada said Cline is a single father who cares full time for his two young daughters. He coached his daughters' basketball and T-ball teams, and kept a "kid-friendly” home full of toys and world maps on the walls, he said.
He works as a waiter at Red Lobster, and is a student at Rose State College.
Ahumada said Cline and the child's mother, Amanda Cheek, had been dating about five months before Cody died.
Cody lived with Cheek, Cline and Cline's two daughters in McLoud.
Authorities said Cline was baby-sitting the child on Oct. 5, while Cheek went to a doctor's appointment.
Cheek told investigators her son was fine when she left about 8 a.m. When she returned about 10 a.m. the toddler was vomiting and his temperature was below normal. She said she noticed a wound on Cody's forehead that wasn't there before she left for the doctor's office, a court affidavit states.
Cline called 911 about 12:30 p.m. to report the child was not breathing and he wanted to start CPR.
District Attorney Richard Smothermon said Cody died of blunt force trauma, and the child's brain injury was so devastating he had no chance of survival.
Cody died at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City on Oct. 6. He had been on life support for about a day, said his father, Paul Chama.
Chama said he shared custody with Cheek, and his son lived with him in Ponca City two weeks of every month.
Cody loved Spider-man and Ironman, and devoured spaghetti, Chama said.
"He was my best friend,” Chama said of his son. "He was always making me smile.”
