Dad found sleeping off beers in running car with child inside (Harrison, New York)
Dad JUAN UYAGUARI and his drinking buddy were found sleeping in the buddy's car--apparently they had knocked back a few brews between them and were snoozing off the effects. During this episode, the car was apparently running, even while landed in a ditch. Dad's "young child" (age not given) was in the back seat--with no child safety seat. Dad's charges have been limited to child endangerment, since he wasn't the one who was driving. The child has been placed with "a relative." Do we mean the mother? If so, why not say the mother? But maybe this was not the mother. If so, where is the mother?
INVISIBLE MOTHER ALERT.

Ossining men accused of sleeping off beers in running car with child inside

HARRISON — Two Ossining men found sleeping in a running car with a young kid in the back seat were arrested Wednesday after police said they found open cans of beer among them.
The driver was drunk, so police applied Leandra's Law, which makes driving while intoxicated a felony when a child is in the car.
Both the driver and his passenger, who is the father of the kid, were also charged with child endangerment, a misdemeanor.
The men were being held without bail this afternoon at the Westchester County jail in Valhalla while police determined their immigration status, state police at Tarrytown said. It was not clear whether the driver ran off the road or merely pulled over, police said, but, when troopers found him at 10 p.m. he had driven a 1995 Nissan Sentra into a ditch off Interstate 287.
The car was still running.
Both men were asleep.
The child was awake in the back without a child safety seat.
Both men had to be awakened by police, who said they smelled alcohol on both of them and could see open cans of beer in the car.
The driver, Juan Uyaguari, 39, was charged with aggravated DWI with a child, a felony, and two misdemeanor counts of DWI after his blood alcohol content registered 0.22 percent — nearly three times the limit. He was also charged with unlicensed operation, having an improper child restraint and open liquor containers in the car.
The father was identified as Segundo Ordonez, 45. The child, who was not hurt, was put in the care of a relative.
The men are due in Harrison Town Court on Tuesday.
