Dad assaults 9-year-old son while on probation (Liberty, New York)

Such a surprise. A convicted criminal on parole assaulted his 9-year-old son. Dad EULOGIO PINTO has now been charged with misdemeanor assault and other good stuff. But why was this boy in his father's "care?" Also note that the boy was subsequently released into this grandparents' custody. What for? What happened to the boy's mother?

Recent Sullivan parolee charged with assaulting 9-year-old son

LIBERTY — A recent parolee was arrested Thursday morning in Liberty after police say he assaulted his 9-year-old son.

Liberty police were called to the Spring Street apartment around 12:30 a.m. and found the boy bleeding from both nostrils. The boy told police his father, Eulogio Pinto, 42, had slapped him repeatedly. Pinto was recently released from prison after serving time on a parole violation on previous felony convictions for drugs and weapons charges, police say.

The boy was treated by Liberty ambulance and released to his grandparents.

Pinto was charged with misdemeanor assault, endangering the welfare of a child and obstructing governmental administration. He was in lockup awaiting arraignment Thursday morning.
