The father of two young children was arrested Wednesday after an anonymous caller told police the children were being neglected.
Garry Terry Carter, 28, of Corbin, was passed out in a back bedroom of his Cleveland Street home when police arrived about 3 p.m., according to the Corbin Police Department and Whitley County Detention Center.
Carter is charged with possession of controlled substances, possession of drug paraphernalia and two charges of wanton endangerment.
The door to Carter’s home was ajar when police arrived and the children, who are ages 2 and 7, were not inside, police said.
After police entered the residence, Carter woke up and asked what they were doing there, police said.
Police said several different pills and drug paraphernalia were visible around the home. After obtaining a search warrant, police also found an unidentified white powdery substance, what is believed to be marijuana, straws and syringes.
The children were placed with a family member pending an investigation by child social services, police said.
