"Caretaking" teen dad gets 50 years in prison for death of 26-day-old son (Davenport, Iowa)

Dad XZAVIER POSY has been sentenced to 50 years in prison for the death of his 26-day-old son. The baby was in Dad's "care" when he suffered a blunt force trauma injury, a result of shaken baby syndrome.

Teen gets 50 years for infant’s death

A 17-year-old father accused of killing his infant son was sentenced earlier this week to 50 years in prison.

Xzavier Posey of Davenport pleaded guilty to child endangerment causing death in Scott County District Court Dec. 3.

Before pleading guilty, he faced a first-degree murder charge that, if found guilty, would have put him away for the rest of his life.

An autopsy on his son, Xzavier Posey Jr., found the baby died from a blunt force trauma injury he suffered while in his father’s care on Aug. 31, 2008, when he was 26 days old. He died Nov. 15, 2008.

Officials said the injury was the result of shaken baby syndrome.
