Dad charged over burning down family home; wife and kids were inside (Bli Bli, Queensland, Australia)
Dad DARREN ROBERTS has been charged with three counts of attempted murder and deprivation of liberty, as well as one count of arson and one of willful damage, in connection with an incident where he "allegedly" set fire to the family home with his wife and two kids still inside. Though he is still in the hospital with severe burns, the police oppose bail. Good for the police. Guys like this don't deserve bail. And the family doesn't need the extra anxiety.

Man charged over burning down own home
From: AAP December 10, 2009 4:17PM
A MAN charged with setting fire to his own home while his family was inside is still a threat, say police.
The 37-year-old Bli Bli man, who remains in hospital receiving treatment for severe burns, has been charged with three counts of attempted murder and deprivation of liberty, as well as one count of arson and one of wilful damage.
Police allege that in November Darren Roberts set fire to his house on Camp Flat Road, at Bli Bli on the Sunshine Coast.
His wife Sherry, eight-year-old son Isaac and five-year-old daughter Jordan were still inside at the time.
Brisbane Magistrates Court was told Mrs Roberts and the children escaped the flames before the house was destroyed.
The children were not injured but Mrs Roberts suffered minor burns.
Police opposed Roberts' bail application, saying he remained a threat.
Roberts was refused bail and the matter will be mentioned again in court on February 25, 2010.
