Last week the Benton County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a woman who reported that her young daughter had been sexually assaulted and the father of the child was the perpetrator. A call was also made to Child Protective Services to inform them of the situation. The little girl had allegedly told her grandmother about the incident. Cindy Curtis with Child Protective Services and Investigator Bryant Allen with the Sheriff’s Office both interviewed the child regarding the incident. According to Allen, the child admitted to them what her father had done to her. Lieutenant Jason Lowery, Sergeant Investigator Ricky Pafford, Sergeant Alan Bolan, Deputy Chris Lynch, and Deputy Kenny Christopher went to the residence to look for Joshua Lee Chandler. Reports state that Chandler attempted to flee the scene and was captured in the woods. After being captured Chandler was taken to the Sheriff’s Office where he was questioned about the incident regarding his daughter. Reports say that Chandler admitted to the sexual acts against his daughter that he had been accused of. Chandler was then charged with rape of a child and incest. While officers were arresting Chandler at his residence they also allegedly found him to be in possession of a schedule III drug, hydrocodone, and a schedule II drug, Adderal XR. In addition to rape and incest charges, Chandler was charged with simple possession of a schedule III drug and simple possession of a schedule II drug. Other charges against Chandler include resisting stop, frisk, halt, arrest or search. He is being held in the Benton County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bond and is forbidden to have any contact with the victim or the family. Investigators have sent off for forensic evidence but have not yet received any results, however they do not expect to find any physical damage to the girl.
