Dad charged with punching 8-year-old son at church (Myrtle Beach, South Carolina)
Dad PAUL JOSEPH SHULER apparently got aggravated with son's behavior at church. Maybe Dad then asked himself what Jesus would do, and decided Jesus would punch his son in the side of the head and knock him down. So Dad did so. The next day, the boy's teacher discovered dried blood coming from the boy's ear and bruising on the side of his face. It seems that the boy now has, at minimum, a major hearing loss in his left ear as well. Dad has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault.

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - A Myrtle Beach man has been charged with punching his son in the head after a teacher found blood and bruising.
Officers were called to Myrtle Beach Elementary, 620 29th Ave. N., on a reported child abuse case around 8 a.m. Dec. 11. The school nurse reported that a teacher sent an 8-year-old boy to her officer after finding dried blood coming from his ear and bruising on his face.
According to a police report, the child told investigators he was wrestling with a friend at church when his father, identified as Paul Joseph Shuler II, 27, told him to stop. The boy said he did not listen and his father came up, spoke to him for a minute and hit him hard on the side of the head, knocking him to the ground.
The boy told officers he went home and went to bed, but had trouble hearing the alarm to wake him for school.
According to the report, the victim's teacher said the victim told her his father had punched him the head less than a week before, but the teacher understood that the father is a karate teacher and thought he was punched during karate class.
The nurse had the child complete a hearing test, which he failed on the left ear.
Shuler was arrested and charged with aggravated assault.
