While Dad talks on phone, baby drowns in bathtub (El Cajon, California)
UNNAMED DAD has so far not been arrested for leaving his 9-month-old son and two-year-old son in the bathtub alone while he chatted on the phone (you know with cell phones, you can talk and stay in the bathroom at the same time. Amazing what you can do with modern technology). The 9-month-old drowned but the 2-year-old is apparently okay. There was also a 5-year-old in the home, and a grandfather. No mention of a mother at all. Single dad? Visitation? Custodial parent? Mom working? Why don't reporters find out these things?

EL CAJON, Calif. -- El Cajon police Thursday investigated the death of a 9-month-old boy who allegedly became submerged in water after being left unattended in a bathtub while his 26-year-old father talked on the phone.
The boy died at an apartment on Leslie Road, near Chase Avenue, around 6:35 p.m. Tuesday, according to The San Diego Union-Tribune.
The boy's father said he left the infant in the tub with his 2-year-old sibling for about 10 minutes but checked on the children periodically from the doorway, El Cajon police Lt. Tim Henton told the newspaper.
Paramedics were called after the father found the infant underwater and not breathing, Henton said, adding that medics took the boy to Sharp Grossmont Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
No arrests have been made but the 2-year-old sibling and a 5-year-old were taken into protective custody, Henton said. Child neglect charges could be filed pending the outcome of the police investigation.
The infant's grandfather was also home at the time of the incident but was in another part of the apartment, according to the Union-Tribune.
