Dad SHAWN COVERDALE threatened to douse his daughter with gasoline and remove her from the hospital were she was recovering from an automobile accident. No real explanation here as to what his problem was. Maybe he's just one of your garden variety @$$sholes.

A MAN threatened to douse his daughter with petrol before snatching her from the hospital in which she was recovering from a car accident, a court has heard.
Today, Shawn Coverdale, 33, of Myponga asked the Adelaide Magistrates Court to release him from home detentions bail conditions because his alleged offending was at the "lower end of the scale."
Lucy Boord, prosecuting, said Coverdale's crimes were "extremely serious" and didn't he deserve to be released.
"He has been only been on bail for three months," Ms Boord said.
"Just because he has been well behaved for such a short period of time is not a good enough reason to remove him from home detention bail."
She alleged that on March 2, as the girl was being treated for serious head and hip injuries, Coverdale went to the hospital and became abusive towards staff.
"The accused attended (Flinders Medical Centre) and threatened to pour petrol over the girl and removed her from hospital," she said.
He was arrested later after a 24-hour manhunt.
Joseph Sanders, for Coverdale, told the court his client's alleged crimes were "at the lower end of the scale of offending." and he had no intention of approaching his daughter or applying for her care.
Magistrate Bill Ackland dismissed the application and remanded Coverdale on home detention bail.
He will next appear in court in next month.
