Dad pleads guilty to sexually abusing sister, who had 7 children by him (Fort Wayne, Indiana)

FORT WAYNE, Ind., (WANE) --- - A Fort Wayne man accused of abusing his half-sister and fathering seven children with her has pleaded guilty. 46-year-old Donald Medsker entered the plea in response to seven counts of incest and one count of child solicitation.

Monday, the victim told NewsChannel 15 in a phone interview that she believes justice has been served.

The victim, who has chosen to remain anonymous, also said she's not happy the deal will mean less time for Medsker behind bars.

Medsker entered the plea in Allen Superior Court Monday. It comes after more than a decade of physical and sexual abuse against his half-sister.

During that time, he fathered seven kids with her.

The charges against Medsker could have meant life behind bars, but under the agreement his sentence will be capped at 35 years.

NewsChannel 15 first reported details of the shocking incest case and aired an exclusive interview with the victim back in February.

She held back tears as poured out the details of her alleged ordeal.

"The sexual abuse, it started when I was not even 11 years old yet. It continued, it was physical, mental and there was sexual abuse involved," the victim told NewsChannel 15."He was supposed to be my guardian. He was supposed to be the dad figure in my life and he abused that right, over and over again."

According to court documents, the abuse began when she was ten. That's when she was put into Medsker's custody after their shared mother died.

Court documents say she was both physically and sexually abused by Medsker and his wife, who he later divorced.

After Medsker and his wife divorced, police say he impregnated his half-sister for the first time. She was 14 years old. Medsker forced her to quit school. He then fathered six more kids with his half-sister over the next 14 years. At least two of those kids were put up for adoption.

The remaining five had been living with the victim until the case came to light.

When asked why she didn't report her situation sooner, the victim said she was abused at a very young age and never knew it was wrong. During an interview, she added that she also felt helpless about her situation.

"He took care of everything and I had nobody else to turn to. I had nobody but him. That's all I had," she explained to NewsChannel 15 in February.

The 30-year-old says she finally went to police after he allegedly began abusing one of their children too.

"My daughter had told me he sexually molested her...and I went forward doing anything I had to do to protect all the kids," said the victim.

Monday she told NewsChannel 15 she's still fighting to get her kids back from state custody and put this chapter in her life behind her.

It's not clear if, or when, the victim will have the kids returned to her custody.

Medsker will be sentenced in October.
