Dad RAMLI ALI isn't that different from dads in the west. Except for the punishment including "three strokes by a rotan," this story could have easily taken place in Jacksonville, Florida instead of Johor Baru. Unfortunately, the sexual abuse of children by family members, often fathers, takes place everywhere.

Father jailed 15 yrs for incest with teenage daughter

JOHOR BARU: A father of five broke down and cried in court after admitting he committed incest with his eldest daughter who has since delivered a baby boy.

Sessions Court Judge Aliman Musri sentenced the man to 15 years jail from the date of arrest and three strokes of the rotan.

Ramli Ali, 47 who works as a gardener in Kulai was charged with the offence committed against his now 17-year-old daughter at his home in Felda Bukit Batu here.

According to the charge sheet, the girl was 14-year-old when the incest occurred in July 2006.

The man, who broke down into tears, before being sentenced pleaded to the judge for a lenient sentence.

"I repent for all that I have done and I will never do this again," he said adding that he was grateful that his family was still supporting him through the court proceedings.
