AUGUSTA, Ga. - Richmond County investigators are searching for a man accused of beating and seriously injuring his one-year-old son.

Officers say Christopher Loggins beat the child with a belt on Sunday.

Investigators say the child is expected to make a full recovery.

Christopher Loggins will be charged with cruelty to children in the first degree.

Investigators say the child's mother; Jenae Ruffin left the apartment after she and Loggins got into an argument.

She didn't want to return to the home so she asked her sister to pick up the baby from the apartment.

That's when her sister found the child with a busted lip and several injuries.

“Mr. Loggins severely beat a one-year- old child and if you think about it...a one-year-old really can't do much to upset or deliberately disobey an order. Most one-year- olds can't speak or are just now starting to walk around,” said Richmond County investigator Blaise Dresser.

Investigators say Loggins has family on the 2400 block of Lumpkin Road and could be in that area.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office at (706) 821-1080 or the tip line at (866) 939-5050.
