Dad, son held in home invasion (Orchard Mesa, Colorado)

Children need their daddies because...who's in a better position to teach you to be a general all-around thug? Dad RONALD FIRM seems to have done a bang-up job teaching his son to be a general sleezebag, just like the old man.

A father and son stormed into an Orchard Mesa apartment on Sunday, demanding money and pills as repayment of a debt, according to an arrest affidavit.

Ronald Firm, 47, 547 Sunrise Drive, and his son, Christopher Firm, 20, 3088 Sunlight Drive, were ordered restrained from each other during their first court appearance Monday before County Court Judge Craig Henderson.

Grand Junction officers were called around 4:20 p.m. to an apartment at 1821 David St. on a report of two men with handguns who burst into a unit before leaving with numerous items.
“They’re gonna come back here and kill us,” one of the victims told an officer.

A man at the home identified the Firms by name as suspects. The man said his wife answered the door, which was forced open by two men.

“Where’s the money and the pills?” Ronald Firm allegedly yelled.

The affidavit said Christopher Firm grabbed the man by the throat and held him in a recliner, while Ronald Firm yanked a phone out of the wall.

The victim said the elder Firm rummaged through the apartment’s kitchen and bathroom before returning to the living room and demanding $200.

He claimed the money was owed to a woman, “and he was there to collect,” the affidavit said.

The man said he wouldn’t have the money until Sept. 3, when he expected a disability check to arrive. Ronald Firm then started to remove a computer and a television.

“(Victim) said Ronald told him he was going to keep the items until (victim) received his disability check,” the affidavit said.

The Firms sped away eastbound on Unaweep Avenue before officers caught up with them in the 3000 block of Rood Avenue, where they were arrested.

According to the affidavit, Ronald Firm told officers the victim already had agreed to hand over his television and computer as collateral on the $200 and “pills” that he claimed were owed.

Ronald Firm claimed to have had a polite conversation with the apartment’s residents before taking the items and leaving.

The affidavit said Ronald Firm couldn’t explain why he had two cellular phones belonging to the couple.

Both men Monday evening were being held at the Mesa County Jail on $10,000 bond on suspicion of aggravated robbery, menacing and burglary, among other charges.
