Dad held for slapping his son to the ground (Rochester, Minnesota)
UNNAMED DAD has been admitted to a medical center on a 72-hour hold after slapping his son to the ground and then telling police he didn't remember doing it. Gosh, the authorities are so accomodating for this guy. Is this Minnesota Nice in action? Or just coddling of a child abuser? I'm more concerned with the crying little boy laying on the ground begging his dad his dad not to hit him again, than I am with his freaky dad.

A 52-year-old Rochester man was admitted to Austin Medical Center Tuesday after allegedly striking one of his children at the Jay C. Hormel Nature Center and then telling police officers he didn't remember doing it.
According to Austin Police Chief Paul Philipp, two people walking the trails at the nature center in Austin called the police around 2 p.m. after they heard the man yelling at his son and daughter for 20 minutes and then saw the man slap his son to the ground.
The ages of the children were not listed in the police report, but those who reported the incident said they could see the boy laying on the ground crying with his hands over his face and asking not to be hit again.
According to the report, the man told the officers he didn't remember hitting his son, but admitted he has problems controlling the kids and often doesn't know what to do.
The man was taken to AMC and put on a 72-hour-hold. The children were given back to their mother. Philipp said the family had just moved to Rochester from Austin, and the mother had dropped her kids and their father off at the nature center so they could spend the afternoon there.
