PITTSBURGH -- A 5-month-old boy is in Children's Hospital, fighting to recover from injuries suffered at the hands of his own father, police said.

Kristopher Tresco was arrested Thursday. Greensburg police say he was watching little Richie and the baby's twin sister when the boy suffered brain injuries earlier this month.

"From the doctors at Children's Hospital, they notified us of neurological injuries to the brain area of the infant -- eye area. There was blood found on the brain," Capt. George Seranko said. He added, "They advised us that it wasn't accidental, that it was injuries from shaking the baby."

Seranko told Channel 4 Action News reporter Ashlie Hardway that an ambulance was called to the home on South Hamiliton Avenue on Sept. 14 when the child's mother returned and noticed something wasn't right with him.

Police also responded and said they noticed that the child was lethargic and had vomited in his crib, according to the criminal complaint.

The boy was first taken to Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital before being taken to Children's Hospital.

Tresco is facing a number of charges, including aggravated assault. He is free on $5,000 bond while he awaits a preliminary hearing.

Jennifer Snyder told Hardway that she believes with all of her heart that her husband is innocent.

Snyder said her twins were born prematurely, and at a doctor's visit in August, she asked about Richie's head size and potential neurological issues.
