Dad, armed with knife, starts police standoff over child custody (Corpus Christi, Texas)

Oh, for Pete's sake. This was not a custody "dispute." This wasn't a "confrontation."

Read the details carefully. There was ONE AGGRESSOR. And that was UNNAMED DAD.

Mom ran out of the house to call 911. This suggests she was not a participant nor an attacker, but was reacting defensively.

Dad had a knife. No mention here that Mom had a weapon, is there?

Who was holding a person hostage? Dad. Who locked himself in the house and started a police standoff? Dad.

CORPUS CHRISTI - A hostage situation along Ocean Drive ends peacefully as the suspect surrenders to police.

It started around 2 p.m. Friday. A police spokeswoman says a dispute over child custody led to a physical confrontation between a woman in a home on the 5500 block of Ocean and the father of her child.

Witnesses and police say the woman was able to get out of the house run to the Palmetto Park next door and call 911.

The man who is reportedly the father of the woman's child, entered the house and locked himself inside.

Police say the man had a knife during the incident. The child was not present at the time.

The man surrendered to police peacefully and exited the garage door of the home.

Officers say the female victim had only minor injuries.

The suspect is in custody and his name will be released after booking, police say.

The entrances to Palmetto Park were blocked as police interviewed the victim but have now been reopened.
