Investigators from the Peel Regional Police Homicide Bureau have made an arrest in what was originally deemed a suspicious death of an infant.
On the afternoon of Wednesday, September 22, 2010, officers from Peel Regional Police attended, with paramedics, at a residence on Flowertown Road in response to a medical assistance call. Three month old Tyson GARBUTT - STREETER was discovered in distress. He was immediately transported to a Brampton Hospital and then transferred to The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, where he was placed on life-support.
During the course of the medical treatment, it was revealed the infant had unexplained injuries and an investigation was initiated by the Special Victims Unit. The infant was taken off life-support on the morning of September 28, 2010, and died later that day. At that point, the investigation was deemed a “Suspicious Pediatric Death” and assumed by the Homicide Bureau.
After receiving the results of a comprehensive post-mortem examination by the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service, further investigation was conducted by the Homicide Bureau, resulting in the arrest of the infant’s father, 20 year-old Daniel STREETER of Brampton, on Thursday, October 13, 2001. STREETER has been charged with Second Degree Murder and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton for a Bail Hearing.
