A father allegedly knifed his own seven-month-old baby daughter during a furious row with his partner.
Armed police were this morning called to a flat in Wembley, north west London, where they were confronted with a man wielding a knife while holding the baby.
During the dramatic siege police believe a 26-year-old man stabbed the baby inside the flat on Ealing Road.
The baby was taken to hospital where she is said to be in a 'stable' condition.
The 26-year-old also suffered a minor stab wound and was taken to hospital but released after treatment.
The child's mother, Ebony Jackson, had been living at her mother Anna's Wembley home with her partner for the past three years.
It is believed Ebony has another toddler who was not harmed during the incident during the early hours of this morning.
Ms Jackson has not returned to her mother’s home and is thought to be at a nearby hospital.
A lone police officer guarded the door of the flat while drops of blood leading to the door were clearly visible.
Neighbours said the Jackson were renowned for their rows.
One neighbour, who did not want to be named, also said the family had lived in the upstairs flat for more than 20 years.
He said: 'I know Anna has been here for more than 20 years.
'She has three children. Ebony is the youngest and she has two children who live there with Anna.
'One is a baby only a few months old and the other is about two. Her partner has lived there for the past three years - he seems to be the father.'
Ebony's partner, who is often seen driving a grey Vauxhall Astra, reportedly moved in to the flat Ebony shared with her mother Anna three years ago.
A Scotland Yard spokesman said: 'Officers attended and discovered a man holding a small child while in possession of a knife.
'The man wounded the child and was subsequently arrested by officers.
'The seven-month-old girl was taken to hospital suffering from stab wounds. Her condition is described as stable.
'A 26-year-old man was also taken to hospital suffering from stab wounds. His injuries were not life-threatening. He was released after treatment.'
The 26-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and is in custody at a west London police station.
Officers from the Metropolitan Police's Child Abuse Investigation Team have launched an investigation.
