Home alone dad investigated in trauma death of 4-week-old daughter (Cumberland County, Pennsylvania)

Once again, how odd that we can have a 4-week-old baby, and yet the mother is COMPLETELY ERASED from the story. We have a 6-year-old sister mentioned, but not mom. Who gave birth to this newborn four weeks before? Or was she brought by the stork? The symptoms described here--the lack of breathing, retinal damage, etc.--are the classic symptoms of non-accidental abusive head trauma. And most of these cases are committed by fathers and father figures.

INVISIBLE MOTHER ALERT.

SOUTH MIDDLETON TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- State police in Carlisle are investigating the death of a South Middleton Township infant.

The 4-week-old child, Ahzyre Thompson, was taken by ambulance to Carlisle Regional Hospital on Thursday morning, where she was pronounced dead.

Her father and a 6-year-old girl were the only people in the home at the time, according to court documents. Around 7:20 a.m., the girl's father called 911 to report that the baby was not breathing.

He told police the baby woke up crying at 3 a.m. and he gave her milk and she went back to sleep, according to court documents.

When a 6-year-old girl living in the house woke up and needed help getting dressed, the dad said he realized the baby wasn't breathing, according to court documents.

EMS workers performed CPR on the girl.

The Cumberland County coroner concluded that the retinal tears and contusions on the baby's face and/or eyes were from a traumatic injury and not naturally occurring.

"It's reasonable to believe (the baby) is indeed the victim of an intentional act rather an accident," Todd Eckenrode said.

Police said they found blood on bed sheets in the master bedroom.
