Convicted felon dad to spend 15 years in prison for abusing 5-month-old son (Gainesville, Florida)

I'm going to put myself out on a limb here. I humbly suggest to you that dads who are convicted felons--dads like BRIAN JAMES LINSINBIGLER--do not make the idea infant caretaker. What happened to this baby's mom? Was she forced to work while Daddy Dearest was breaking this baby's bones?

Father to spend 15 years in prison for abuse of 5-month-old

A Gainesville father will spend the next 15 years in prison after being convicted of the abuse and neglect of his infant son. The tiny boy was 5 months old when doctors discovered a recently broken arm as well as a previously broken jaw and rib.

Brian James Linsinbigler, 27, of 311 SE Eighth St., pleaded no contest Thursday to three counts of child abuse and three counts of neglect. He was sentenced to 15 years of prison as a releasee re-offender as well as two years of probation.

Assistant State Attorney Sean Brewer said that under the releasee re-offender designation, Linsinbigler must serve every day of the 15-year sentence.

“He was given that sentence because he had been released from prison less than three years before these crimes were committed,” Brewer said.

Florida Department of Corrections records show Linsinbigler was released from state prison in November 2007 following a 3½-year sentence. Linsinbigler had been convicted in Columbia County of burglary while armed, grand theft with a firearm and grand theft.

The child’s injuries were discovered in May 2010 by members of the Child Protection Team at Shands at the University of Florida.

Following medical treatment, the baby was turned over to the Department of Children and Families.
