Dad and brother left 2 kids in car for 2 days while they partied (Hillsdale County, Michigan)

UNNAMED DAD and his good-time brother have been arrested and charged with child abandonment after leaving Dad's 4- and 6-year-old children in his car for 2 days, while the two men drank and partied. The children hadn't been fed and were living in "unsanitary conditions." DHS is investigating. There isn't a word here about the children's mother. Did she consent to this arrangement? Or was this court-ordered weekend visitation? Maybe with the good-time brother proving "supervision"? Even the commenters are wondering.

Two Hillsdale County men were arrested early Sunday morning after Jackson County Sheriff’s deputies learned the men allegedly left two children in a vehicle for two days while they drank and partied, according to a release from the sheriff’s office.

Deputies arrested the two men, the children’s 28-year-old father and their 27-year-old uncle, around 12:30 a.m. inside a local business in the 1200 block of E. McDevitt Avenue in Summit Township, the release stated. The children, aged 4 and 6, were locked inside a vehicle in the parking lot.

The children told the deputies they had been inside the vehicle for the past two days while their father and uncle drove around drinking and partying, the release stated. Deputies found several empty beer cans in the vehicle, including two in the center console. The children had not eaten in two days and were living in “unsanitary conditions,” according to the release.

Deputy Brad Reed took the children and gave them a meal. Sgt. Tommy Schuette arrested the father and uncle for child abandonment. They were taken to jail pending a review of the case by the prosecutor.

The Department of Human Services will continue the investigation.
