Dad jailed for sleeping while 3- and 4-year-old children outside throwing rocks at cars; 3-year-old had steak knife (Alma, Michigan)

Seems Dad RYAN FRASER might have been sleeping off some heavy duty toking while his children, ages 3 and 4, were outside throwing rocks at cars. The 3-year-old also had a steak knife in his possession. This was around 11 in the morning.

Dad's now been arraigned on drug dealing and child abuse charges.

And check this out. Mom lived OUTSIDE THE COUNTY, and authorities don't know whether Dad had VISITATION or CUSTODY!

But read on. What idiot judge would give this guy custody or visitation? Dad was ON PAROLE after being released from prison in November for charges of ASSSAULT and RESISTING POLICE.

At least the kids are now in Mom's custody.

Wow. Another great custody/visitation story out of Michigan. Remember party dad RICHARD LABO, who left his kids in the car all weekend with no food during his weekend visitation? It seems that any sperm donor with a pulse can get custody or visitation these days.

While Daddy slept upstairs in his downtown home in Alma, his two children, ages 3 and 4, were outside and in the street throwing rocks at cars Friday morning about 11 a.m..

The 3-year-old boy had a steak knife in his hand.

When police responded to the complaint at the South State Street home, the children of Ryan Fraser told them they had tried to wake their father, but he wouldn’t get up, Gratiot County Prosecutor Keith Kushion said.

Police entered the home, woke Fraser up and found five bags of marijuana in the home.

Fraser was arraigned Monday afternoon on charges of possession of marijuana with intent to deliver and fourth degree child abuse.

The children, who were uninjured, were turned over to a responsible adult and the mother, who lives out of the county, was notified, Alma Deputy Chief Matt Schooley said. The kids are now in her custody.

It isn’t known if Fraser had custody of the children or if the children were simply visiting their father.

Fraser was released from prison on Nov. 25 after serving a term of 18 months to 10 years on charges of assault and resisting police, Gratiot County District Court Judge Stewart McDonald said.

He was due to be released from parole on May 25, 2011.

The Michigan Department of Corrections has a hold on him for parole violation, but he will stay in the Gratiot County Jail for the time being, McDonald said. A $35,000 bond was set and Fraser told the judge he was unable to make bail.

On these latest charges, Fraser could face a maximum penalty of up to eight years in prison on the drug charge and up to a year in jail on the fourth degree child abuse charge, McDonald said.

He would also have to serve time for violating his parole.

A preliminary examination has been scheduled for May 3, McDonald said.
