Man arrested in shaken-baby case

WARREN - A man secretly indicted by a Trumbull County Common Pleas Court grand jury on charges he injured a baby was arrested Wednesday.

Chris Cline, 23, who police say has no fixed address, turned himself in to U.S. Marshals about noon at the city administration building.

He was taken to the Trumbull County Jail and is expected to be arraigned in Common Pleas Court, where he was secretly indicted on charges of felonious assault and child endangering, both second-degree felonies.

He was wanted for an incident Nov. 7, when police found a 6-week-old child at 3086 Lancer Court that was injured and later determined to have been shaken, according to police. The baby was taken to Akron Children's Hospital and has been released, but there may be lingering effects from his injuries, said Detective Michael Currington.

After police interviewed other family members, they interviewed Cline, who confessed, Currington said. Cline is the baby's father.
