Dad charged with abusing 7-month-old son; baby has brain trauma, broken bones (Victorville, California)
Dad CARLOS ZARATE-RANGEL was alone with his 7-month-old son on the day that the baby was brought to the hospital with brain trauma and broken bones. Dad faces two charges of child abuse, and is being held in a detention center without bail for an immigration hold. Wish we could deport American citizens who inflict brain trauma and broken bones on their babies.

A Victorville father is facing charges for repeatedly abusing his 7-month-old son, who authorities say has suffered brain trauma and broken bones at the hands of his father.
Carlos Zarate-Rangel, 36, faces two counts of child abuse for injuries inflicted on the infant on Oct. 6 and Oct. 16, according to a criminal complaint filed in San Bernardino Superior Court.
Zarate-Rangel is being held at West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga without bail for an immigration hold.
The 7-year-old boy was brought to a Victorville hospital on Oct. 16 and transferred to Loma Linda University Medical Center, where doctors notified authorities that the boy had suffered broken bones and brain injuries by blows spread out over several weeks.
Sheriff's detectives said Zarate-Rangel was alone with his son the day he was brought to the hospital, and on multiple other days in recent weeks. Zarate-Rangel was questioned last week and subsequently arrested.
